Health and Human Performance
Our pre-service teacher education program effectively meets the second component of the university’s mission by providing baccalaureate degree programs which meet primarily regional needs in arts and sciences, teacher education, business, and information technology. To that end, our pre-service teacher candidates will spend more than 120 hours in local school settings prior to student teaching.
Effective teacher preparation demands that pre-service teachers have laboratory experiences with children/adolescents during their preparation. These experiences are designed to acquaint teacher candidates with a variety of schools and settings and to encourage them to connect educational theories with practice. Our pre-service engagement experiences are with multiple developmental levels, structured and supervised by university and school faculty, and often supported by collaborative PACCE grants written by faculty, local K-12 partners, and pre-service educators.
