What are you most excited about starting or experiencing at UW-Platteville?

I am really looking forward to my experience at Plattevillle. Three of my older brothers recently graduated from Platteville, and they absolutely loved their experience there. I am really excited to stat a new chapter in my life.

What interests and/or hobbies do you have?

Hobbies that I enjoy doing include, dancing and just hanging out with my friends. I am on my high school dance team, so a lot of my time is spent doing that! Every chance I get, I love to spend time with my family. Family is a very important thing in my life and I loved spending time with those people that mean the most to me.

What are you most excited about starting or experiencing at UW-Platteville?

I am excited to meet new people. I also look forward to academically being enabled to focus more directly on my areas of interest.I love the outdoors, and am very interested to explore the lakes and forests of Grant County and beyond. I also plan to be involved in a variety of campus and community activities, some tried-and true, and some new to me. Bring 'em on...I'm ready!

What interests and/or hobbies do you have?

Anything outdoors. I hunt, I fish, I play football. I enjoy woodworking, building anything and, believe it or not, I like to mow grass. I like active endeavors and community service/projects that involve physical effort, with a final and satisfying outcome of leaving an area improved upon.

Jackson's Thank You Note

Thank you for awarding me the Verona Area High School Community Scholarship. It came as a welcome surprise. I have worked diligently to maintain  a solid GPA, and tried to be a contributing team member to my family, in school, in athletics and around the Verona and Dane County communities. It was inspiring to learn you noticed and chose me to share in the generosity of your donation. My parents have made great efforts on a modest income to save what they could to help me out while I pursue my educational goals. However, I have an identical twin brother who will also be attending college this fall. So, my parents face a "double whammy". Your scholarship will certainly help with the many extra expenses I will encounter. Again, thank you for your unselfish generosity.

What are you most excited about starting or experiencing at UW-Platteville?

When I first visited UW-Platteville, it was for a football recruit visit. But it wasn't just the winning tradition of the Pioneers that caught my attention, it was also the campus. It had a few recently new dorms and buildings, very open space, beautiful walk from one end of the campus to the other and many more amazing sights. I am very excited to be part of the football program at Plateville. They have an outstanding group of coaches and when I got to talk with some of the players, they talked about how they play for their fotball family and for the love of the game. Last but not least, I am very interested in experiencing some of the ethnic clubs, fun activities around campus and finding a major that will best suite me. I am very excited to be attending the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

What interests and/or hobbies do you have?

My main interest and hobby is playing sports. During my high school years, I participated in varsity football and soccer, as well as the basketball team. I am always talking about sports or working out and that just shows how competitive I am. I also enjoy listening, playing, and creating music. I play the drums and I love jamming out to a new song, or a cool beat I hear on the radio. Meeting new people and going out with friends is also something I enjoy because that is what life is about: meeting new people, creating connections and having fun.

Nick's Thank You Note

I would like to thank all the donors that made this scholarship possible. Paying for college isn't easy, but this scholarship assists me in my college expenses. I am very grateful for your thoughtfulness and kindness and I will be sure to make you all proud. Thank you!

What are you most excited about starting or experiencing at UW-Platteville?

I am super excited about first meeting new people and about getting involved as much as I can. I am always willing to try new things and I know college is a good place for that.

What interests and/or hobbies do you have?

In the fall, I ran cross country and I worked a lot at my job, during the winter I managed my high schools boys varsity basketball team and I worked as much as possible and in my little free time I would enjoy down hill skiing. In the spring time I play lacrosse for my high school. During the summer I mow lawns as a summer job as well as spending a lot of time with my family and friends. I love going to devils lake for the day and hiking around the lake and swimming. I also like taking my siblings to try new things such as going Stand- Up Paddle boarding and cliff jumping.

Cassidy's Thank You Note

Thank you for the opportunity to accept the Verona Area High School Community Scholarship Award, I have always done my best to be involved in as much as I can be in my community. This scholarship will help me pay for my college. It will also open opportunities for me so I can express my involvement at UW- Platteville like I did at Verona Area High School.
