The most recent recipient of the Seymour High School Fund Scholarship is Jacob Arndt. Read comments from Jacob below.
What are you most excited about starting or experiencing at UW-Platteville?
As a future engineer, I am naturally excited about the classes and hands-on learning I will soon be experiencing at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. I know that through volunteering and being a great person, I can make an impact on the community in which I live and study. As a referee for soccer, I have been able to pass on my knowledge of the sport while making the experience fun and safe for the participants. I have also worked with the younger wrestlers on not only technical skills, but also shared our team's values of leadership, pride, and gratitude.
What interests and/or hobbies do you have?
While my grades are important to me, I love to put the books away and go fishing, four-wheeling, or driving. One of the things I most want to do with my engineering degree is design and modify vehicles that allow people with disabilities to experience that same freedom of movement I enjoy when I drive my truck. I would love to find part-time employment in the automotive industry or working outside.
Jacob's Thank You Note
Thank you so much to the donors that make the Community Scholarship Program possible. Your commitment to local students demonstrates the value of not only striving for success for yourself, but also to reach out and make those around you successful as well. I look forward to putting your contribution to my education to good use and to paying it forward by being an active member of my new community. Thank you again!
