WILLIAMS FIELDHOUSE AND PIONEER ACTIVITY CENTER RENOVATION PROJECT

UW-Platteville is embarking on a two-phase addition and renovation project for Williams Fieldhouse and the Pioneer Activity Center. This will provide needed facilities for our growing student body, faculty and staff, the community and the region.

In addition, a number of important improvements are already complete or underway at Williams Fieldhouse. These are:

Phase I Details

The first phase of the addition and renovation was enumerated by the State of Wisconsin in 2007-09. Architects are now designing this with construction planned for 2009-10.

Students approved the project and will pay fees each semester to support the addition and renovation. Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2009 and the Phase 1 addition will be completed in Summer 2010.*per 3/08 timeline

Phase II Details:

Phase 2 will complete the addition and renovation of the Pioneer Activity Center. The conceptual design for this phase, focusing on an aquatic center and auxiliary gym, was completed with the planning for Phase 1.

The campus has requested approval from the state as part of the 2009-11 capital budget. The estimated cost is $9.5-10.5 million

The earliest time construction will begin is in summer 2010, completion in fall 2011. The timing for construction of Phase 2 is dependent on fundraising. With $5 to $5.5 million in gifts needed, construction can only begin when these funds have been raised.
