The most recent recipient of the Hightland High School Fund Scholarship is Matthew Menke. Read comments from Matthew below.

What are you most excited about starting or experiencing at UW-Platteville?

I’m excited to start taking classes to learn more about animal science, agribusiness, and new farm technology. We had limited agricultural classes in high school and I want to expand my knowledge to be able to operate my own business in the future. It will be a new experience living away from home and I’m looking forward to meeting new people and making new friends.

What interests and/or hobbies do you have?

I love spending time outdoors and farming is my passion. I enjoy milking cows, doing field work, and the wide variety of activities farming encompasses. I enjoy fishing, four-wheeling, and watching and participating in sports, especially football and basketball. I like doing almost anything that keeps me active.

Matthew's Thank You Note

I would like to thank you for selecting me as a recipient of the Highland High School Community Scholarship. I am honored and very appreciative to receive this award. I’ll work hard to represent Highland High School and the town of Highland. Thank you for your generosity and your donations to make this scholarship possible. Times are tough and this will help with the cost of tuition/housing. I am planning to go into Animal Science with a Dairy Emphasis. I loved growing up on our family farm and want to learn as much as I can to own and operate my own farm in the future. With today’s technology, it will take more education to run a successful operation than it did when my dad started and my grandfather before that.
