What are you most excited about starting or experiencing at UW-Platteville?

I am excited to get the chance to experience what its like to live independent. I am excited to get the chance to meet new people and meeting people with the same interest as me. Going into the criminal justice field is what I am most excited for. The chance to gain knowledge of my dream job. I am hoping to apply for the FBI internship my first year at Platteville, which is a very competitive thing to get into. So I will be as active as I can with the Police Science clubs Platteville has to offer. Which I am so excited to be able to have fun at the job I want. I am also applying to the Platteville Police Department, So getting into the police station is what i'm excited for to. Being able to just go to the college of my dreams is what i'm truly excited for.

What interests and/or hobbies do you have?

I enjoy being active with local police departments. I have been with the Madison Police Department going on ride alongs. I have trained with the Stoughton Police Department. Getting the chance to talk to many different officers as possible is something that I enjoy to do all the time. I enjoy reading and writing poetry. I love working because it gives me the chance to gain different work skills and communication skills. I love reading news updates about crimes and keeping up with around America police problems. I also enjoy to do a sport called curling. I have been curling for 5 years now and its something fun to do during free time.

Ashlie's Thank You Note

It wold be an honor to have your support for my dreams and goals in life. I will never give up on making them come true and I promise that if you gave me the chance to prove that I will make my dreams come true it will happen. I enjoy being there for people and making sure that everyone around me is satisfied and thats part of why I want to be a Police Officer. I want to give back to the community proving there is good out there. So if i got the chance to do that with the help from you it would mean the world to me. Thank you so much for even giving me the chance of your support and help to make my dreams come true. That means allot its self. I will never give up on my goals, your help with this would mean even more. Thank You.

What are you most excited about starting or experiencing at UW-Platteville?

I am excited to experience new surroundings. I come from a very diverse and large school so I'm excited to see a more spread out campus and meet new people.  I'm also excited for my classes and to see what I will be doing (more hands on or off learning). I will also be looking into doing sports such as volleyball and soccer. I will be doing the intramural sports my first year then maybe tryout for the real soccer team my last 4 years.  I'm super excited to be a part of Platteville's campus.

What interests and/or hobbies do you have?

I love animals and staying in shape and being active.  Soccer and volleyball are my two favorite sports. Going to the gym is also another hobby of mine. I love meeting new people when I'm in a new place and being able to make new friends too.

Olivia's Thank You Note

My name is Olivia Valk.  When I was 10, I was diagnosed with a blood cancer called Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).  I was never really allowed to be at school after that because my immune system was so slow and I could get sick very easy.  I missed almost all of my 4th and 5th grade years of schooling. I went through heavy rounds of Chemotherapy for around 3 years, and in the process lost all of my hair. During treatments the Make-A-Wish Foundation granted me one wish, it could be anything I wanted.  I wished for my horse Champion, Champ for short. Now here I am at 18 years old, happier and healthier than before.  I work in a vet clinic right now as a veterinarian technician assistant for smaller animals.  I hope to further my education at Platteville to become a Large Animal Veterinarian and someday own my own clinic.  I cannot say thank you enough for the gift of this scholarship.  It means a lot to me and will defiantly help me through my years at Platteville.
