Why 1866?
1866 is the founding of what is today UW-Platteville. In 2016, we will celebrate 150 years of excellence in education! Fifty percent of the dollars raised for the 1866 Fund will go directly to support these student areas, which have been affected by state budget cuts:
- Student Cultural Enrichment (ex. Cultural speakers/performances)
- Student Entrepreneurial Activities (ex. Business-related experiences)
- Student Extra-curricular Activities (ex. Athletic & Recreation-Based)
- Student Museum Related Activities (ex. History/examples of areas of study)
- Student Research (ex. Aerospace research labs and farm testing labs)
- Student Success Center (ex. Tutoring/Writing Skills)
The BEST part is the other 50% will be invested in a guaranteed endowment fund, which will generate investment income every year to help fund the previously mentioned initiatives.
- We'll be updating the progress of the Platteville 1866 Fund through the Alumni Today magazine, so please look for it... and watch it grow!!
