What is the Annual Giving Program?
The annual giving program is the UW-Platteville Foundation’s yearly drive to raise financial support for the ongoing operating needs of the university. The Foundation’s mission is to provide supplemental funds to aid UW-Platteville in fulfilling its educational mission.
How does the annual giving program help?
Unrestricted gifts to the annual giving program are more important then ever for UW-Platteville. The purpose of the unrestricted gifts is to provide critical resources to students that state assistance, tuition, and fees do not support. Examples include academic programs, student enrichment programs, technology and equipment needs, and support for the arts.
Who gives to the annual giving program and how are they contacted?
UW-Platteville has about 40,000 living alumni. Approximately 20 percent of our alumni provide financial support to the Foundation in the form of annual gifts, major gifts and special project support. Annual giving accounts for approximately 1 Million dollars each year. The majority of the gifts donated are in response to the Foundation’s annual phonathon.
Each year, the UW-Platteville Foundation conducts its phonathon to raise money for a variety of needs on campus. About 25 current students are hired by the UW-Platteville Foundation as paid employees. They receive training and are supervised at all times during the course of the phonathon. The peak time for the phonathon is during the fall and spring semesters.
All monies raised directly support our students. The phonathon is but one method of raising funds in support to the Foundation's annual giving efforts. Annual giving provides needed ongoing operational support for the university's school year. It also supports the many scholarship funds managed by the foundation.
The phonathon raises an average of $500,000 annually for UW-Platteville, and provides important funds to students and programs that tuition and government funding simply does not cover. That is why supporting the Pioneer Annual Fund through the phonathon is so vital to UW-Platteville.

All contributors receive a formal receipt acknowledging their gift to the Foundation. In addition, the Foundation’s annual report and donor honor roll lists the names of the contributors during a fiscal year.
Additionally, contributors of a certain giving level are invited to the Foundation’s annual donor recognition event, held each year during the summer.
