The Theatre Program of the Department of Performing & Visual Arts offers the arts major with a theater emphasis, various minors in theatre and opportunities for all students on the UW-Platteville campus to participate in play production.
Within the theatre emphasis, students choose courses from play production (acting, directing, stagecraft, etc.), dramatic literature and theatre history. A student planning to teach may be certified through this program as a theatre specialist with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
Many students elect theatre courses as part of their liberal arts enrichment programs. Such work is often related to vocational or recreational interests. Theatre provides an excellent second major or minor for fields such as radio/television, English, speech or music.
