Pioneer Players and Music Theatre
Leave the drama to us!

What is Pioneer Players/Musical Theater?

Getting students and the community involved in theatre is our number one goal. The second is to sell tickets, of course—just kidding. Although selling tickets is important, meeting new people and having fun while learning about theatre is a huge part of being a member of Pioneer Players/Musical Theater.

Pioneer Players and Musical Theater hold bi-weekly meetings, usually in the CFA Theatre, Thursday evenings at 5:00pm. We discuss upcoming events/productions, great opportunities for workshops in the area, and play theatre games. We also work to make our theatre a better space for us as well as future students, plan socials, such as the “Drama Prom,” and go on trips to the American Players Theatre in Spring Green. We are also planning a trip to Chicago in the spring to see some great theatre.

Getting Involved is Easy!

Come to Meetings! It’s as easy as that. Get out of your dorm room for an hour or two on Tuesday nights, and come chill with the plucky theatre folk.

Audition! Auditions are held at the beginning of each semester. Students are encouraged to prepare monologues and must participate in cold script readings. If you are auditioning for a musical, prepare a song. (P.S. it’s not as scary as you might think and there are always tons of people around the music department willing to help you learn a piece of music if you just ask.)

Costuming and Props. The stage not your thing but you love theatre anyway? Crafty but nothing to do? We can point you in the right direction. Each show has its own challenges in costuming and props.

Assistant Directing and Stage Managing. Vital to every show and often overlooked. Without these people, our productions would not go up.

Become a beloved Techie! We’re running low on supply, and we need to start training the next generation. If you love tinkering with lighting instruments and sound boards, come check it out!

Help build sets! We are always looking for new faces and new ideas. You can get involved through the stagecraft class, or you can volunteer during shop hours in the afternoon, Monday through Friday, from 2-6pm.
