UW-Platteville offers 39 majors in addition to speech. If you choose one of these as your major, you should seriously consider selecting speech as a co-major (second major) because of the greater advantage it will give you when you are seeking internships and employment. According to Sandra Stacy, Director of Career Planning and Placement, 94% of all internships and employment announcements list “effective communication skills” as a requirement. Training in human communication, linked with your major, will give you a competitive edge and make you more marketable and more successful in your chosen profession.
