Teaching Responsibilities:
Direct Jazz Ensemble I, Pioneer Co. Revue (Vocal Jazz), Jazz Combos, Percussion Ensemble, including the drumline of the Marching Pioneers & instruct the percussion majors privately.
Biographical Information:
Appearances at the Monterey, Concord, San Jose Jazz Festivals & the San Francisco Drum Festival. Toured US, Israel & Canada with Theatre Group of New York in the production of Juan Darien. Percussionist with the San Jose Civic Light Opera ‘87-94, extra percussion with the San Jose Symphony ‘87-94. Performed and/or recorded with Bobby McFerrin, Clare Fischer, Richie Cole, Phil Mattson, Scott Colley, Charlie Haden, Babatunde Olatunji, James Newton, Nashville Repertore Theatre, Rare Earth, Jeff Coffin & the Dubuque Symphony among many others. Mr. Caploe has experience in many styles of music, western & non-western, feels equally comfortable playing Jazz, Classical music & non-western music and has done so professionally.
As a producer has a CD entitled “Tenerife Blue” which sold 30,000 copies in Europe, & has another CD “Hearsay” with the band he led in the Bay Area of all original compositions. Latest project is entitles “Egress” which features 3 original compositions, UWP colleague Mike Lewis & New York Jazz musicians Scott Colley & Donny McCaslin.
