The major requirements consists of 48-58 credits and are separated into distinct emphases. They are as follows:
The course work consists of studio and lecture courses to allow for exploration in various media, eventually leading to specialization. This emphasis includes course work for students planning to continue their education in Art History or Art Theory.
The course work primarily consists of studio and lecture courses leading to a career in the graphic arts or applied arts.
The course work is composed of studio and lecture courses leading to teaching art in primary and secondary schools. Students seeking certification must also enroll in the School of Education Certification Program.
All art majors are required to present a body of visual art works in a group exhibition that is scheduled at the end of each senior's last semester at UW-Platteville.
