![]() Rountree Branch **Please open in Internet Explorer for best graphics. This site was created by two University of Wisconsin-Platteville (UWP)
students as a central location for data collected by all different parties
working with the Rountree Branch. These parties include UWP Civil
and Environmental Engineering Department, UWP Chemistry Department, the
Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Friends of the Rountree
Branch (FORB), Trout Unlimited, Southwest Badger RC & D, and the City
of Platteville. The
Reclamation and Biology Departments at UWP are also becoming more
involved. Some areas of the watershed are woodlots and prairies, however most of the land has now been converted to agricultural land and commercial property. Some land within the watershed is enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) sponsored by the DNR. The CRP gives farmers money to not farm a particular plot of land for 10-15 years and instead allow grass and trees to grow. This program increases wildlife habitat along with decreasing erosion off the land into rivers and streams. We hope this site will serve as a valuable resource to engineers and
environmentalists, as well as concerned citizens of the area. For
more information refer to the Grant-Platte
River State of the Basin Report. In this report you can find
more detailed history, research, and current activities in the watershed
and surrounding areas. If you have questions or concerns regarding this web site contact Dr. Max Anderson at andermax@uwplatt.edu. |
