Discussion Topics:

  1. GE Report—Osama shared details of this report and highlighted areas.  These areas encompassed enrollments, transfers, and breakdown by departments.  General Engineering has an enrollment of 772 students for the Spring 2011 semester on campus.  With students from UW Fox Valley, UW Rock County, and Streaming video programs there is an additional 42 students.  Osama also shared information about ACT scores and GPAs by program. The full report is available for your review and comments.
  2. Advisory Board—Joanne suggested that we change this meeting to April 29.  Backup date will be May 6th.
  3. Strategic Planning—Joanne shared that she has discussed long and short term goals with Rob Cramer.  Mittie called a meeting yesterday to discuss academic plans.  She requested a tentative outline by May.  The Deans agreed to have a College plan to Mittie no later than December 1, 2011 with two, five, and ten year goals that can be benchmarked.  Discussion followed.   Send comments to Philip and Lisa.
  4. Co-op/Internship—Lisa requested that when you turn in your co-op/internship class schedules that you list Lisa’s name as the instructor.  This will allow for less paperwork and fewer steps in the overall process.  Discussion followed.  Please share any comments with Lisa as to how this might be improved.
  5. Banquets—Joanne asked if someone can attend the Phi Kappa Pi program.  Tim volunteered.  Saturday, April 16th there is a Leadership Award Banquet at 7 p.m.   Sunday, April 17th there is another banquet that Julie McDonald will attend at noon.
  6. Investiture & Board of Regents—Tammy shared that students will be in Engineering Hall on that Thursday and Friday to take people on “tour”.  Lisa will be coordinating the students for these tours.  Will discuss again next meeting.
  7. EMS EXPO class cancellation discussion.  Seventy one classes need to be moved for this event.  Of these, 62 are Mathematics.  There were eight sections that were voluntarily cancelled.  There is some discussion about whether the engineering classes could be cancelled during the fall semester for the Math Contest.  Phil Sealy offered up his seven lab/lecture rooms for this event.  In the spirit of cooperation there seemed to be a concensus on sharing rooms in Ottensman and Engineering Hall to support their contest as well.
  8. Civil & Environmental Engineering Assessment Report will be at the next meeting.
  9. Other—None

Meeting adjourned at 1:56 p.m.
