Executive Council Minutes

Minutes for September 30, 2010 were approved.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

  1. Lisa mentioned everyone should begin looking at their program information listed in the undergraduate catalog.
  2. Tammy said that advising workshops are coming up, and asked that it be shared with faculty and staff.  Keith Thompson will also be assisting.  One of the workshops will be streamed, and it will be posted on the web page if someone can’t make a workshop.
  3. Joanne thanked everyone for coming last night to discuss the Master Plan and Capital Campaign items.
  4. Joanne mentioned that next Friday is a furlough day, and if anyone would be working because of a conference, etc., that person should email their supervisor to reschedule their furlough day.
  5. Joanne announced that Mike Momot was selected as a representative to go to Hessen, Germany.  Only two candidates from Wisconsin were given this opportunity.

 

AGENDA

 

  1. Departmental Handouts – Use of Logo – J. Wilson

Joanne said that we should use the University logo on everything and begin

using it now on new documents, brochures, etc.  The new logo will also be

added to each of the programs’ four year plans.  Tammy added that the Fact

Sheets should also be reviewed.  If anyone has questions, they should contact Dianna Brunton at the University Information and Communications office.

 

  1. STEM Scholars and Career Day – T. Salmon-Stephens

Tammy shared information on the STEM Scholars Program.  Of the 300 applicants, 10 scholars were chosen (282 were men and 18 were women).  More information can be found on the webpage:  http://www.uwplatt.edu/stemscholars/  

 

 

Tammy said Career Day is Monday, October 25th.  The maximum number of students allowed will be 100.  She is currently setting up a schedule for presentation times.  Tammy has heard from some programs that are interested in doing presentations, and has more openings.  If interested, contact Tammy by next week.

 

  1. College Meeting – October 19th Agenda – J. Wilson

Joanne said we will have a handout for the October 19th meeting in which

we will list everyone who has received awards, grants, promotions, etc. in

the past year.  She asked that everyone get this information to Jean.  The

meeting agenda will be approximately 30 minutes.

 

  1. Proposal for Sustainable & Renewable Energy Systems (SRES) – T. Zauche

Tim presented the SRES information for a new major which will not be ABET Accredited.  The major will be paid through DIN monies.  There was a lengthy discussion with suggestions to change some wordage.  Tim was asked to bring the revised document back.
