Executive Council Minutes

December 1, 2009

Visitor:  Tammy Salmon-Stephens

Minutes approved from October 27, 2009 as modified.  Motion by Philip, second by Hal, carried.

Announcements:

1) Tammy passed around a pledge form at recent racist activities on campus.  These pledge forms will be displayed in the PSC.  She also shared buttons with the group.

2) Julie indicated that the recent Mathematics Contest was very successful.  Des Moines School District brought 8-10 t4eams.  There will be a repeat performance this Thursday.

Discussion Topics:

1) Masters of Science Degree—Integrated Supply Chain Management:  Justin presented information and outlined the Request for Entitlement for this degree to be offered here at UW Platteville.  Discussion followed regarding the program and mimicking current on-line course offerings.  Marketing at the regional level was also discussed.  Motion to approve by Tim with suggestions.  Philip seconded.  Approved. 

2) Other:

a. Tim asked everyone to think about Chem 1020 and the success rate in Chem 1450.  Discussion was also held about graduation rate with this path vs. Chemc 1050 being split into a 3 cr/hr lecture and a 2 cr/3 hr lab.  Discussion followed regarding these topics and people were encouraged to continue those discussions with Tim.

b. Rich indicated that Lisa would like to start the process of developing an ABET committee for the next round.  Start the process of identifying someone from your department.
