Discussion Topics:

1.                   Co-op (Technical Elective) Rich Shultz and Lisa Riedle

Rich and Lisa presented options for co-op including costs and co-op as a technical elective in the engineering programs.  After a lengthy discussion, Rich asked Lisa to be in charge of this committee.  Each program or department should submit a name of someone interested in working with her by May 16th.

2.                   Budget – Rich Shultz

This is a reminder that the last day for spending is coming up quickly.  Do not pre-spend DIN.

3.                   Other

a.       Rich sent an email last Friday about an Engineering Technology Workforce Meeting that he will be attending next week.  He needs everyone’s feedback as soon as possible.

b.       Tammy said that Industrial Studies is offering a class for middle and high school students this summer called Introduction to Engineering and Technology.  After a short discussion, Rich said he would check into this with Dean Ford.

c.       Rich was given some information from Student Support Services about the percentage of “D” and “F” students.  He would like to have a future discussion on how to make students more successful?  Is there something we can be doing?  Rich isn’t suggesting that we lower our standards, we need to come up with solutions/ways to make our education better.  Lisa and Rich will discuss this further.

d.       Lisa reminded everyone that 1866 request funds are due Friday, May 11th.

e.       Lisa and Carol Sue Butts visited Carroll College and they would like to set up an articulation agreement with UWP.  Lisa will be sending out Carroll College’s course requirement information to the respective programs/departments over the summer for approval.

Meeting adjourned.
