Executive Council Minutes

October 19, 2006

Minutes from September 28, 2006 were approved with the addition of Sheryl Wills to the members present list.

 

Announcements:

 

  1. Rich announced that six tenure track positions are being filled for next fall through TSI.  They are Math-2, Chemistry-1, GE-1, CE-1, ME-1.
  2. Tammy reminded everyone of the fish fry Friday night and the Brat and Beer lunch on Saturday.  These are sponsored by the EMS Alumni Association.

 

Agenda:

 

1.      Math UUCC document – Sheryl Wills

Sheryl passed out a request to increase course Math History from 2 credits to 3 credits.  After discussion the motion was made to recommend the change and passed unanimously. 

 

2.      GE Report – Abulkhair Masoom

Abulkhair handed out and discussed the fall 2006 General Engineering report.  The main item of interest was the increase in number of students in GE.

 

3.      ABET – Rich Shultz

Rich lead discussion on final preparations for the upcoming ABET visit.  General details were discussed and agreed upon.

 

Other:

 

  1. Rich mentioned announce that nominations forms for Wisconsin Teaching Fellow and Wisconsin Teaching Scholars are available in the Dean’s office.
  2. Rich reminded everyone of the Applied Research Grants pre-proposal deadline of Nov. 15.
