Announcements:

1.                  Mesut announced that $10,000 was received by the EE Department from WE Energies.  This money will be used for faculty support and $2000 will be a scholarship.

2.                  EE Department will also be receiving $4000-$6000 from Excelan Company in Chicago.

3.                  A complaint was registered about the temperature in Ottensman 222 and the fact that the window was nailed shut.  Physical Plant will be notified.

4.                  Tammy expressed thanks to everyone for their assistance with Expo.  Approximately 500-600 people were in attendance.  The committee will bring back a formal report in a couple of weeks.

5.                  Chuck shared information about a lab safety training being held in Milwaukee some time in April.  He will get the dates the Carol.

Discussion Topics:

1.                  Recruitment/Alumni Event Participation—Mesut wanted to know if the Recruiting Office had an estimated number of visits planned and the possibility of being able to have advance notification for participation purposes.  Discussion centered around each department being responsible to attend a minimum of two of these events per year.  Lisa will follow up with Ruth Joyce.

2.                  Dean’s List—Recently the GPA requirement for BILSA has been changed to 3.75 in order to make the Dean’s list.  LA&E has been at 3.75 for a number of years.  Discussion was held regarding whether the College of EMS would like to change the requirement from 3.5 to 3.75.  Consensus was to leave it as it for this semester and put it on the faculty meeting agenda for discussion.  After that faculty meeting, then Executive Council will reconsider and evaluate.

3.                  Other—

a.       Women in Engineering Career Day is being planned for April 18th.  There are only 30 registrations at this time but the event will still be held.  ME/IE will do a combined session for a total of 40 minutes.  Tammy encourage other departments to share a 40 minute session rather any only 20 minutes each.  Tammy will email times for discipline sessions.

b.      SAGE update—Everything is in place for summer registration courses.

Meeting adjourned.
