Meeting
December 15, 2004
Attendance: Dean Richard Shultz, Max Anderson, Joe Clifton, Charles Cornett, Abulkhair Masoom, Mohan Gill, Pat Jinkins, Mesut Muslu, Sam Owusu-Ababio, Kurt Rolle, Tammy Salmon-Stephens, Doyle St.John, Sheryl Wills, David Kraemer
Dean Shultz called the meeting to order at 8:05 am
The minutes of the last meeting were approved.
Chuck Cornett announced that Jim Hamilton was in Washington DC at the Smithsonian helping to clean the Hope Diamond.
Carol Sue Butts presented the proposal from the SAGE committee for staffing to handle the new TSI students next fall. It was suggested the 8 new math sections be added, a chemistry lecture with 3 labs, and two sections of GE 1000. Some discussion followed concerning which particular courses should be offered. Provost Butts will take the recommendations back to the SAGE committee and the departments will include these additional sections in their fall schedule.
The Tammy Salmon-Stephens and David Kraemer presented some of the new ideas developed by the Expo Committee. These included a new award for departments based on participation and quality of projects, an improved web page, and new marketing strategies. It was agreed by all present that the committee has made great strides in revitalizing the Expo event.
Mesut Muslu presented a proposal that Lab View be purchased on a college license. This will save the college money in the long run. Consensus was achieved that the purchase should be made out of DIN funds.
