Meeting
8 September, 2004
Attendance: Dean Richard Shultz, Max Anderson, Joe Clifton, Charles Cornett, Abulkhair Masoom, Mohan Gill, Pat Jinkins, Mesut Muslu, Sam Owusu-Ababio, Lisa Riedle, Kurt Rolle, Tammy Salmon-Stephens, Doyle St.John, Sheryl Wills
Dean Shultz called the meeting to order at 8:00 am
The minutes of the last meeting were approved
Mesut Muslu announced that a Labview session would be available for interested faculty. The department Chairs will indicate to Mesut by Thursday, September 9, how many faculty may be interested in participating. Dean Shultz announced that Chuck Cornett received a federal grant for the coming year. Lisa Riedle announced that the Wisconsin Society of Professional Engineers (WSPE) will hold a meeting for faculty, staff, and students on October 21, 2004.
Dean Shultz presented a proposal to set Thursday, March 31 for Engineering Expo and Industrial Advisory Board. The Executive Council approved this proposal.
A discussion was conducted to determine where to keep student evaluation of faculty results. After a discussion it was agreed to keep these documents in the department offices. The library presently retains copies for three years although there is a suggestion to retain only one years results.
The Strategic Planning Committee will be chaired by Chuck Cornett. Members from each department will participate in this activity
A discussion was held about a policy for providing connections for two computers to a faculty office, if needed, by using a Hub. It was decided that the decision to furnish a hub to a faculty member would be determined by each department, based on work-related useage.
Lisa announced that the library representatives for the next year are: Jon Musselman for CSSE and EE, Jess Donahoe for Math, Regina Pauly for Chemistry and Engineering Physics, and Kay Young for Civil, General, Industrial, and Mechanical Engineering. These are the people to contact for purchasing new books and material for the library and for UUCC documentation.
Dean Shultz asked for suggestions for Industrial Advisory Board topics. Three topics were suggested: (1) Assessment, (2) Fund Raising, and (3) the concept of cross-over and delivery of the Fox Valley and Janesville engineering programs.
The next executive council meeting will be held on September 22, 2004. Meeting adjourned at 8:52 am.
