Executive Council Minutes for September 17, 2003

Minutes approval was postponed until Carol is back.

Announcements:

J. J. Wilson told a story relating to his Astronomy Lab being watched and questioned by the police who thought they were a party.

Max announced that Dave Wang has submitted his retirement letter to the Chancellor effective at the end of the spring semester.

Discussion Topics:

The new sabbatical guidelines are out. Carol has copies. Requests have to be to the department chair by September 30 and to the Dean by October 6. Those faculty whose approved sabbatical was cancelled last year will have first priority.

The Provost has asked for suggested topics for the Administrative Leadership Training meetings. Please send any suggestions directly to her.

Kurt presented a new graduate level course (MIE 7440) for approval. After discussion, it was approved unanimously.

Nominees for the Workshop for Women in Higher Education Leadership were sought. We can nominate four women from our college to attend with support from the Vice Chancellor.

Chuck Cornett asked for help in identifying emeriti faculty from the college out of a list of all emeriti faculty. Each chair will review the list and respond to Chuck.
