MINUTES - EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING

Minutes from the October 14, 2002 were approved.

 

Announcements:

 

  1. Jaime announced that he, Rich Shultz, and Chancellor Markee were visiting Bodine-Electric tomorrow.  Future cooperation and plans will be discussed.
  2. Mohan announced that a meeting was held with the Vice Chancellor, the President of SWTC, the Dean of UW-Richland Center, a UW System Assistant Vice President, Rich Shultz, and himself to discuss computer science completion at UW-Platteville from SWTC and UW-Richland Center.  The discussion is moving forward.

 

Discussion Topics:

 

  1. Multicultural Services sent out notice for a program (Paths to Platteville) to attract minority students and requested help.  Tammy, Mesut, and Jaime said they would assist.  More information is needed.
  2. Action on new Computer Science graduate courses was postponed one week.
  3. Kurt presented modifications to the description of a graduate course and a new graduate course. Both were approved.
  4. Mesut had some difficulty ordering a flat screen display computer.  The problem was taken to the Vice Chancellor and seems to be corrected. 


Other:

1.      Tammy indicated that she still needs presenters from EP, CE, and IE for Career Day on November 8th.

2.      The Majors Luau increased in numbers this year (about 80 vs. 30).  No one came to the Math table.  Engineering was not represented.

3.      Class schedules are due to the Dean’s Office ten days before the due date.

4.      The Highway Technician Certification Program had their Advisory Board meeting today.  The HTCP is starting some new pilot programs.  Monies from this is funding remodeling in the Materials Lab.
