proposals n
eed to be prioritized.
- Discussion Topics
- A draft of the Advisory Board agenda was distributed. The theme of the meeting
will be to review the structure and survey the members to determine how best the
Board can serve the College. Suggestions were made to change "New Freshmen
Registration" to "New Freshmen Outreach" and "Turkey Initiative" to
"Partnership With METU".
- The potential Fox Valley initiative was discussed.
The Fox Valley area is very
industrialized and would include industry workers seeking college credit along
with students planning to transfer to a four-year campus. DIN funding would be
required in order to support equipment for basic labs, the hiring of adjunct or
current faculty, and for faculty housing costs. The Dean will pursue the matter
and may call on Council members for assistance.
- Council members were asked to remind their faculty members of the policy that
exams conducted d
uring the regular class period must not exceed that class
period. Exams beyond this length must be scheduled at an alternate time and at a
time available to all students.
- Other Business
- T. Ceylan reported on the background of the proposed partnership with METU
(Middle East Technical University). A cohert group of students from UWP and
Turkey would complete classes at UWP and METU. Funding opportunities
through the Federal Governm
ent are being explored.
- The Dean distributed copies of the proposed DIN funding by program area. A
portion of the DIN funds have been set aside for the remodeling of the computer
closet, Room 117. Senior Design will be maintained at the same level.
- The Dean will be out of town for the next Council meeting. An e-mail will be
sent if the meeting is cancelled.
