- Discussion Topics
- The Industrial Engineering curriculum proposals discussed at the March 3 meeting now
have the approval signatures from the outside departments. Motion was made by J.
Wilson and seconded by M. Muslu to accept the proposals. Motion passed.
- Curriculum proposals from Mechanical Engineering were discussed. The proposals will
expand
the available technical elective courses by adding three new ME courses and one
EE course. A suggestion was made to clarify the staff requirements. The prerequisite for
the Electrical Engineering course will be changed to allow Mechanical Engineering
students to enroll. A motion was made by J. Krogman to approve the documents with a
second by J. Wilson. Motion passed.
- The Ottensman building hours for Good Friday, April 10 will be expanded to 5:00 p.m.
Departments will be responsible for la
b hours.
- Ottensman rewiring will take place this summer. Negotiations have been completed to
update to a 10 switch rather than a 10 competitive in EIC, Graphics Lab, CECIL,
CAMEL, Chemistry 301 and faculty offices. If an additional $4,500 per lab can be found,
the Electrical and Industrial Engineering labs can be included. Chemistry and Physics labs
will remain on the existing system, but all competition will be eliminated in the thin wire.
- The DIN budgets approved by the Execut
ive Council have been set up and will have
account numbers shortly.
- A discussion was held on the rental of student lockers by student organizations. Student
organizations have requested an expansion of these lockers outside the instructional labs
which would affect students and space. It was felt that the two student lounges on the first
floor would be the appropriate locations. The lockers would need to be well secured and
attractive. There was no objection to this request. The Dean will
monitor the situation.
- The second reception for incoming freshmen engineering students will be held at
Wisconsin Power & Light's System Operations Center in Cottage Grove on March 12
from 6:30-8:00 p.m.
