Members Present: M. Anderson, T. Ceylan, J. Clough, J. Krogman, J. Miller, M. Muslu, R. Shultz, F. Tufte, J. Wilson and P. Young
- Minutes of October 22 were approved as distributed.
- Announcements
- J. Krogman alerted Council members that laboratory doors would be kept open for Pioneer Preview tours.
- O. Jadaan is the proud father of a baby boy.
- The annual Mathema
tics Contest will be held on campus next Wednesday.
- Dean Shultz thanked everyone for responding so quickly to multiple queries.
- Discussion Topics
- The wiring schemes in Ottensman have caused a mismatch between servers and hubs. Ottensman is slated for complete rewiring along with Brigham, but this will not happen immediately. Much of this upgrade is being pushed by the introduction of PeopleSoft.
- A di
scussion was held on relocating the Mita Copier from Ottensman 113 to the Highway Technician Office, Room 49. The copier will be moved on a trial basis, and reevaluated at the end of this academic year.
- The 1998 Fall and Summer schedules will be due December 1. Additional information will be provided regarding summer loads.
- Sabbatical requests for next year include: M. Abughalous (Spring 1999), O. Jadaan (Academic Year 1998-99), S. Lukowski (Fall 1998) and K. Rolle (Spring 1999). Search
es should be filled as soon as possible.
- The meeting of November 21 will be devoted to ABET plans and progress.
- Other Business
- Three students have been nominated to serve as commencement speaker.
- A new policy involving the display case will be prepared for review by the Council.
- DRB procedures and the identification of DRB members must be submitted to the Dean no later than 1:00 on Tuesday,
November 4.
- Information on the November 20 Professional Engineers’ Meeting was disseminated.
- Master of Engineering’s Entitlement to Plan was approved unanimously by the APC last Thursday.
- J. Wilson suggested that faculty may wish to again be involved in the calling of alumni during the Phone-a-thon. It was felt that faculty contact generates additional funds.
