Logan, A. Richert, R. Shultz and C. Sundin 1. Minutes of February 23 were approved after J. Blomquist's name was changed to read "Jon". 2. Announcements a. The Dean thanked the temporary recording secretaries for the past two meetings--C. Sundin and J. Wilson--for their willingness to step in during Judy's absence. b. C. Crawford, Chair of the College of EMS Advisory Board, has a conflict with the M arch 29 date for the Advisory Board meeting. Therefore, the Advisory Board will meet on April 19. The Dean would like good representation from faculty, department chairs, and program coordinators. c. J. Wilson distributed a memo to EMS faculty listing upcoming events/dates, including the College faculty meeting on March 4. d. Chairs received an e-mail from the Dean concerning ASEE's White Paper. Any comments should be shared with the Dean for his use when he attends the ASEE mee ting. e. The deadline for completing telephone calls to admitted students has been extended to March 15. J. Krogman and J. Wilson are coordinating this project with student organizations. f. The article in the current Exponent regarding the University's fundraising policy was discussed. 3. Discussion Topics a. A proposed summer salary table was distributed. The table reflects reasonable support for the departments. The "DIN" column should be labeled "Other". The $22,00 0 needed to cover the salaries should be able to be covered through Decision Item Narrative (DIN) proposals. Any concerns or questions about the proposed salaries should be directed to the Dean. Summer instructional salaries have been approved by the Faculty Senate at the base rate, rather than a flat fee. College's are allowed to determine what a full load will constitute, and the College of EMS will use nine credits as a full-time load. The b udget for instructional costs is $65,000. A minimum of twelve students has been set for a course to be offered at full funding. J. Wilson distributed a Summer School 1996 Instructional Plan. Discussion ensued about what courses should remain as offerings. Courses not on the list, but which were submitted for the bulletin, will be reported to E. Deneen as being closed. b. The Dean has requested a list of additional summer support available for faculty, such as SAIF grants, research, etc. c. A representative is needed for a Student Appreciation Day Committee. H. Hensley represented the College last year. F. Domann will contact him to see if he would be willing to serve again. J. Wilson will serve if he is unable to do so. d. A College brochure on placement statistics will be prepared to be used for recruitment purposes. e. The policy on salary increases approved by the Faculty Senate were discusse d. The CRSTC will be meeting to determine whether departments should be asked to review their decisions. 4. Meeting adjourned at 2:00 p.m.
