College of EMS Alumni
Chapter
To
recognize College of EMS Alumni who have distinguished themselves in one of the
following four categories:
1). Outstanding Educator/Researcher
2). Outstanding Service to Government/Public
Service
3). Outstanding
Entrepreneur/Businessperson
4). Exceptional Humanitarian
ADMINISTRATION
1). Awards will be presented by a UWP student at the annual
Homecoming Fish Fry and recipients will be acknowledged on the Homecoming Fish
Fry invitation. A letter from the EMS
Alumni Chapter will be mailed to the recipient and the nominator. The recipient will have the opportunity to
present a 5-minute speech at the Fish Fry.
2). Each recipient will receive an engraved commemorative award and
their name will be placed on the legacy plaque that is located in Ottensman
Hall.
4). The legacy plaque wording will read, “The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Engineering, Mathematics and Science Alumni Chapter Awards for Outstanding Educator/Researcher, Service to Government/Public Service, Entrepreneur/Businessperson or Exceptional Humanitarian.”
5). Generally, no more than one award per year per category will be awarded, however, exceptions may be allowed if warranted by exceptional nominees.
6). It is not required that each category be awarded each year.
NOMINATIONS
1). Alumni may be nominated by a:
a). UWP
alumnus;
b). UWP
faculty or staff member;
c). UWP
student organization/member;
d). An
employer; or
e). An
acquaintance.
2). Nominations will be carried over for 5
years.
3). Self-nominations and nominations of
previous recipients shall not be allowed.
1). For each category, the criteria for selection are as follows:
Outstanding Educator/Researcher: innovative teaching, teaching effectiveness, publications,
patents, consulting, research funding, scope of research applicability.
Outstanding Service to Government/Public Service: distinguished public service as evidenced by awards and
recognitions by professional and peer groups.
Outstanding Entrepreneur/Businessperson: be an owner, co-owner, partner in a successful business, hold a
management position with significant authority and accountability, outstanding
achievement as evidenced by success of business, recognition by professional
and peer groups.
Exceptional Humanitarian/Service to Community: provide exceptional aid in the form of money, time, talent or
other resources to an organization whose mission is to provide humanitarian aid
or provide humanitarian aid on an individual basis to a person or group of
persons.
2). A completed nomination form must be submitted.
TIMELINE
1). Solicitation of nominations begins in
February.
2). Nominations are due May 1 to the UWP
Alumni Office.
3). The College of EMS Honors and Awards Committee will make the
Recommendation/Selection by June 30.
4). The College of EMS Alumni Chapter Board will approve award recipient(s) by July 31.
