PYF is for 5th - 8th grade girls.
We welcome chaperoned school groups, home school groups, girl scout troops and individuals.

Pioneering Your Future in STEM is a collaboration of women faculty, staff, and students from UW-Platteville's Colleges of BILSA and EMS.

Program Description

Learn about the exciting career opportunities that are available for women interested in STEM. The hands-on, interactive career sessions will give you some ideas for exploring careers that involve problem solving and experimentation, putting things together and taking them apart, and using what you learn in your studies of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Plus, it is lots of fun!   


8:00 a.m.          Registration, Continental Breakfast, and Fun Activities
9:00 a.m.          Welcome and Fun STEM related group activities
10:00 a.m.        Session 1
11:00 a.m.        Lunch and Keynote Speakers
12:00 p.m.        Session 2
1:00 p.m.          Session 3
2:00 p.m.          Closing

Session topics are:  Biology, Dairy Science, Computer Science/Software Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics and Physiology.  For a detailed description of each session, click HERE. (Note: Sustainable and Renewable Energy Systems sessions have been canceled!)

Each participant will be asked in the registration to select three topics of interest. We will try our best to put you in at least two topics of your choice, but we cannot guarantee it. Sessions will be assigned in order of date registered.  You must attend these sessions as assigned.


Pioneering Your Future will be held in the Velzy Commons and Nohr Gallery located in Ullsvik Hall For GPS directions enter, 30 Hickory Street, Platteville.

Click HERE to register.  Priority registration deadline is March 1, 2016.  Please email us at to ask if we still have space after the deadline. Refunds, minus a $5.00 processing fee, will be given if requested via email prior to the March 1 deadline.  No refunds available after March 1. Registrations will not be accepted after March 7.  This program accepts 100 participants.  Registration includes breakfast and lunch.

If you are bringing a large group of students and would like paper registration to send home to the students, click HERE.  The information still needs to be registered online prior to the registration deadline.  If you would like us to enter the information, please get it to us by March 1 to ensure that the program has not filled.

Click HERE to register. Chaperones can attend at no cost. They are required to pre-register and stay in the building for supervision during the event. Breakfast and lunch is available to all chaperones attending the event.

If you are unable to register, that indicates we are full.  Chaperones or teachers please go to the waiting list to indicate how many students you want to bring. If we have openings we will contact you via email.  If you were only able to register part of your group, please email us at  (Waiting list will be opened when the program is full.)

The cost includes breakfast, lunch, program materials, and project supplies. The participant fee along with the consent form must be submitted by check or money order to:
