Pre-Professional Days activities consist of two parts. Teacher candidates enrolled in designated courses (see below) are required to participate in a formal interview process with questions addressing selected teacher standards. Professional Development sessions are held for all education students. During this time, all education (TCHG) classes will be cancelled for each day until 4pm to allow students the opportunity to participate.
Teacher candidate Interview Assessment
All teacher candidates enrolled in TCHG 4250 Senior Seminar, TCHG 4210 Pre-Student Teaching and HHP 4530 Practicum in Adaptive PE during the current semester are required to participate in the interview process. The particulars of the interview process will be explained to the students enrolled in these classes prior to the actual interview.
Teacher candidates will be required to complete an interview with a team of two faculty members during Pre-Professional Days. Pre-Professional Days is held once a semester, October and March in Doudna 127.
PROFESSSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SESSIONS
The School of Education invites several local educators, administrators, UW-Platteville alumni and faculty members to present on many current education topics. All education students will be required to attend several of the Professional Development Sessions for their education classes. Some examples of topics are My Experiences as a Beginning Teacher, Study Abroad Opportunities, and Working with Students with Special Needs in Your Classroom. The sessions are held in the Markee Pioneer Student Center.
