Students studying abroad at St Mary’s University through UW-Platteville Education Abroad have the choice of two accommodation options, outlined below, at varying costs.  Under no circumstances will students be allowed to live in accommodation that is not under the direct supervision of the St Mary’s University.  Naturally, some adjustments with regard to customs, food, and heat must be anticipated with all of the accommodation options.

HOMESTAY

LOCATION
All homestays will be within a 30 minute walk of the St Mary’s University campus, ensuring an easy walk to class or campus activities.

ACCOMMODATION DETAILS
The Accommodation Office at St Mary’s University arranges for the American students to live in British homes in the surrounding community.  Some householders take just one student, while others take two, but no more than two students placed in a given accommodation.  Within the accommodation, students will have their own keys and will be free to come and go as they please, so long as they are considerate of the other people living there.

MEALS
Breakfast is provided by the householder, and the evening meal is taken on campus with the other St Mary’s University students.  The cost of both meals is included in the accommodation cost to be paid to St Mary’s University by the student.  Most hosts will allow students to use their kitchen to prepare drinks and snacks, and any additional meals must be arranged and paid for out-of-pocket by the student.

The St Mary’s University Refectory, where students can take their evening meal, is open seven days a week during the term and is situated centrally on the campus.  It offers a wide range of food, all at reasonable prices, including a daily choice of main meals, vegetarian dishes, hot and cold snacks, burgers, and salads. There is also a Snack Bar and a café, Dolche Expresso Bar, on campus.

WI-FI
Wi-Fi is included with the accommodation at no additional cost.  However, adjustments with regard to speed and availability must be anticipated.

LAUNDRY
Laundry facilities are generally available, although in some instances this may only be for light use.  Laundry facilities are also available on campus for a fee.

COST
The cost of accommodation is not included in UW-Platteville Education Abroad's program fee and is paid out-of-pocket by the student directly to St Mary’s University.  Please see the St Mary's University Dates and Program Cost page for the current homestay accommodation cost and St Mary’s University Accommodation Office’s website for additional information: http://www.smuc.ac.uk/international/accommodation.htm
