METU Ankara, Turkey Exchange
UW-Platteville Education Abroad has been helping UW-Platteville students study at the Middle East Technical University (METU) since 2012. Since then, students have chosen to study abroad in Ankara, Turkey on the UW-Platteville Exchange program. Today students can study at METU for:
- an academic year
- fall Semester
- spring semester
METU, a state university founded in 1956, has about 24,500 students including a sizable international student population. METU is one of Turkey's most competitive universities with 40 undergraduate programs within 5 faculties. The main part of the campus has dormitory capacity for approximately 7,000 students, who also benefit from a shopping area, banks, post office, and many eating places. Also a wide variety of sports facilities are available including gymnasiums, tennis courts, basketball and football fields, jogging trails, olympic-size indoor swimming pool, and an outdoor swimming.
Situated in Ankara, the capital city of Turkey, METU offers students the chance to visit a city steeped in historical and cultural importance. The sprawling city provides museums, nightlife, shopping centers, hamams (public baths), and a fully restored covered market place; there is something for every student. Buses give students easy transportation between the campus and the city.
