Course Development
Dr. Howard T. Prince II, John F. Halstead (LTC, USA, Retired), and
Larry M. Hesser (Former Chief of Police in Georgetown, Texas), working under
the auspices of The International Association of Chiefs of Police, have
adapted this course for use by leaders in police organizations. The course was
originally developed for a required course at the United States Military
Academy, West Point, New York, under the leadership of Brigadier General
(Retired) Howard T. Prince II when he served as the Professor and Head of the
Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership.
The course material has been tested and taught for many years at West Point.
It represents the best thinking of experienced military leaders who, through
their work experiences and academic studies, have discovered how to apply
scientific knowledge of human behavior to leadership situations in complex
organizations.
