Graduate Procedures for Undergraduate Students

Your advisor, in consultation with the Distance Learning Center (DLC) and UW-Platteville Registrar's Office, will negotiate the final contract enrollment plan with you and mark the contract as the FINAL one. Your advisor may request a final graduation check from the DLC and confirm that you have met all degree requirements for resident credits, upper-division, concentration area, etc. The Registrar's Office will complete the final official review and confirmation of graduation requirements.
You will receive the final contract with an "Intent to Graduate" card by mail. The billing statement that accompanies the final contract will list a $25 graduation fee. You should pay the graduation fee with your tuition/fees, and complete and return the "Intent to Graduate" card with the final contract. You should do this even if your anticipated graduation date is several months away. (If your final course will be an online course, you will receive the "Intent to Graduate" card and billing statement separately.)
Upon receipt of the "Intent to Graduate" card and graduation fee, the DLC will inform the Registrar's Office that you are a candidate for graduation and indicate your anticipated graduation date (May, August, or December).
Several weeks before your anticipated graduation date, you will receive a packet containing specific graduation information (ordering cap and gown, ticket information, etc.) from the Registrar's Office. You may participate in graduation ceremonies on the UW-Platteville campus in May or December. (August graduates may participate in either ceremony.)
Once you have completed your courses and fulfilled all the degree requirements, you will receive your degree with a copy of your final transcript by mail from the Registrar's Office. This is usually about eight weeks after your official graduation has been posted. If, for some reason, you are unable to finish all degree requirements by the anticipated graduation date, you will be moved to the next appropriate graduation date.
