Textbooks for Online Courses
All courses at UW-Platteville require at least one textbook. You must have your textbook before your course starts. Textbook costs are not included in tuition and fees. You must pay for your books when you order them. If you anticipate receiving financial aid, it will not be available to purchase textbooks, as it is disbursed several weeks after courses begin.
You will find textbook information on the Course Registration site. You can order your textbook from any vendor you like. To ensure that you purchase the correct textbook, search vendor sites using the ISBN number and verify the title, author, and edition.
UW-Platteville’s official textbook provider for online courses is MBS Direct. Orders can be placed by phone, internet, e-mail, fax, or postal mail. If you order your books from MBS, provide your course number and title, and identify yourself as a UW-Platteville distance education student.

You will find textbook information for print-based courses in the Textbook Information section in the Introduction of your course manual. You can order your textbook from any vendor you like. Course manuals are written are written for a specific textbook edition – be sure that you purchase the correct book and edition for your class. To ensure that you purchase the correct textbook, search vendor sites using the ISBN number and verify the title, author, and edition.
If you order your books for print-based courses from the UW-Platteville University Bookstore, identify yourself as a UW-Platteville distance learning student. You may call University Bookstore or use the Distance Learning Textbook Order Form you receive when you receive your course materials.
