Professional Experience
Gavin is a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at UW-Platteville. She is in her eleventh year of teaching in the computer information systems emphasis of computer science at the university. Microcomputer Applications is one of the courses she teaches on a regular basis. Other courses include Introduction to Programming in C++ and Programming in C++.
Currently Gavin serves on the Academic Information Technology Commission at the university. She is a Senator on the Academic Staff Senate, and serves as a liaison to the Academic Staff Professional Development Committee as well as the Academic Staff Award for Excellence Committee. She is a member the Upsilon Pi Epsilon Honor Society. Through UW-Platteville's Continuing Education program, Gavin has served the community by teaching several computer courses.
During the summer break, she sometimes works as a software engineer at Avista Inc. in Platteville, which helps her maintain a perspective on current technology and aids in her incorporating those skills and experiences into the classroom.
