Welcome to University of Wisconsin-Platteville's
Online Degree Programs

Dawn Drake Welcome to distance learning at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville! We are very proud of our pioneering history in this area. We will soon be celebrating our 30th anniversary of offering degrees at a distance and we look forward to leading the way in the field of online education in the future.

We currently offer online undergraduate degrees in business administration and criminal justice and graduate degrees in project management, criminal justice, and engineering. We adopted the online format in 1999 and since then we have served students in all 50 states and more than 40 countries. Graduates from our five degree programs have been very successful in enhancing their career opportunities and gaining admission to post-graduate schools.

Our use of interactive television technology (ITV) has spanned more than a decade, and we serve a variety of audiences with individual classes and an MSE program in adult education. We are currently in the planning stages for developing a state-of-the-art distance education classroom, which will open in 2008.

In addition to our accredited degrees, we offer specialized certificate programs and individual courses for professional development. We have also forged working partnerships with the Wisconsin Department of Justice and with Project Management Excellence to offer non-credit courses for criminal justice and project management professionals.

Distance education is very important to the UW-Platteville campus. Nearly one third of our faculty is involved in teaching and/or developing courses that are offered at a distance. Our focus on teaching is to connect with the individual learner to help them get the best education possible. Our students continually tell us how special they are made to feel as they pursue their education at a distance. We also have a distance learning center, which houses student support staff dedicated to providing services to our learners at a distance in a "one-stop shop" mechanism.

UW-Platteville has provided service to a wide variety of people through distance learning since 1978. The flexibility associated with our programs allows people who may not have been able to obtain a degree in a traditional setting, the opportunity to make their dream a reality. Although the main audience for our programs offered at a distance has been working adults, we also serve high school students, students from other colleges, military personnel, and place-bound individuals.

If you are looking for an accredited institution in which to begin or continue your education, I believe that UW-Platteville is a great choice for you. Please use our extensive http://www.uwplatt.edu/disted to obtain information about the degree programs, certificates, and individual courses that we offer. If you need further assistance or have questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Distance Learning Center. I hope you will join our growing population of distance learners!

Sincerely,
