1. Be a good time manager. Utilize calendars and planners to organize your time, and prioritize duties. Be sure to also record progress, deadlines and goals.
2. Avoid procrastination and typical time traps (i.e. television, radio, etc.).
3. Set up a regular schedule for studying. Create a routine to increase your likelihood of studying more frequently.
4. Find a private place to study. Keep it free of distractions.
5. Try to log on to your class five times per week.
6. Read all materials, especially the syllabus.
7. Complete assignments, etc. in a timely manner.
8. Pay close attention to directions and details given in e-mails.
9. Be polite and respectful when communicating online.
10. Maintain frequent contact with the instructor.
11. Be an active participant in class. Sharing your thoughts will help build a stronger sense of community within the class.
12. Get connected to other students in your class.
13. Ask questions immediately after they arise. This is especially important in an online environment since instructors can't rely on your non-verbal cues to know if you understand the material.
14. Get family support. Encourage family members to share duties around the house so you can devote more time to studying.
15. Evaluate your progress regularly.
16. Treat yourself to something special after reaching a goal.
