Time…..there is never enough of it. Becoming a better manager of your time can make you a better student. Here are a few tips to help you and a few “time traps” to avoid.

Get organized by creating timetables:

1. Semester Timetable download timetable

Be sure to record:

· University registration dates

· Assignment due dates

· Online discussion times

· Scheduled quizzes, exams, papers and projects (retrieve these from your course syllabus)

· Personal appointments, etc.

2. Weekly Timetable download timetable

Use this to schedule your study time. This includes:

· Reading textbook and other required reading

· Researching

· Writing papers

· Completing projects

· Preparing for exams and/or quizzes

3. Daily To-Do List download timetable

Refer to your other two timetables to create your daily to-do list. Be sure to:

· Prioritize the items on the list

· Cross items off as they are completed

· Keep this list with you at all times and refer to it often throughout the day

Make a study schedule that you can stick to:

1. Figure out what time of day is best for you

· Are you a morning person? Do you concentrate better in the evening? These are questions to ask yourself. Once you decide what time of day you focus most clearly, reserve it for studying.

2. Don’t schedule “study marathons”

· Studying often in smaller increments is a better way to learn and retain information.

3. Take breaks and reward yourself when goals are met

· You deserve it! Don’t be afraid to pat yourself on the back once in a while.
