· Procrastination
Procrastination is a big problem for many students. Almost everyone deals with it at some point in his or her life. Whether it is a research paper for school, a project at work, or cleaning the garage at home, the reasons people procrastinate are the same.
· Poor Time Management
Time…..there is never enough of it. Becoming a better manager of your time can make you a better student. Here are a few tips to help you and a few “time traps” to avoid.
· Inability to Prioritize
In our busy, face-paced world today, where many people attempt to juggle multiple responsibilities, it can be very easy to lose sight of what is important and how to keep “all the balls in the air” simultaneously. Being able to prioritize your various responsibilities will be imperative to success in your online classes.
· Anxiety About Returning to School
For many people, it has been a major decision in your life to return to school. Whether you are doing it for personal, professional, or a combination of reasons, you may bring with you a variety of doubts and fears. Don’t forget, you also bring with you a wealth of talents, motivation, and experiences. If you are one of the people out there who has not taken a college class for 10, 15, 20 or more years (or who has never taken a college class), you are not alone. But, you have taken the important first step…registering for a class!
· Other Responsibilities
Most of the students who are involved in online education are doing so because they need the flexibility that is afforded by this delivery mechanism. Whether work responsibilities, family responsibilities, or both are part of your need for flexibility, it is important to understand that it won’t be easy adding an online program into your life. However, with some extra planning, a realization that everything won’t be the same while you are taking classes, and concentrating on the reward of completing your classes/programs, it can be a very rewarding experience.
· Low Motivation
If you find yourself having a hard time staying motivated in your classes, there are a variety of techniques that you can use to overcome this issue.
