CJ 733 - Law as Social Control
CJ 733 - Law as Social Control (3 credits)
Course Description: In CJ 733, Law as Social Control, you will analyze the needs, functions, utilization, and effects of informal and formal social control mechanisms; learn the theoretical perspectives on social control and law; and examine theories of law as a social control mechanism.
Instructor Information: Dr. Thomas Caywood is an associate professor of criminal justice at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He holds an Associate of Science degree in Law Enforcement from Missouri Southern State College, Joplin, Missouri; both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Central Missouri State University; and a Doctorate degree from Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, Texas.
