DECEMBER 2001
AND MAY 2002 GRADUATION
December2001
graduation is being held on December 15 at
2:00 p.m. in the Williams Fieldhouse.
Tickets are not required for seating at the
December ceremony. Undergraduate
distance education students who are confirmed
for December graduation should have received a
letter at the beginning of November, providing
specific information on ordering cap and gown,
ceremony times, etc. Graduate students
should contact the Distance Learning Center
for specific information.
Students
planning to participate in May graduation
ceremonies should be aware that graduation is
scheduled for May 11, 2002. Students may
want to make hotel reservations soon if they
plan to attend because area hotels and motels
are often booked well in advance of that
weekend.
SHOWING PRIDE
IN YOUR UNIVERSITY
Did you ever
wish that you had a sweatshirt or t-shirt with
your university logo on it? Wouldn't it
be nice to point to a coffee mug, paper
weight, or desk accessory that advertises your
university? Do you want to show pride in
your university by sporting a UW-Platteville
window decal on your car? Have you ever
thought about using a UW-Platteville pen and
pencil set while at work, or especially for
doing your homework? Once you graduate,
you will definitely want a momento from your
alma mater.
The University
of Wisconsin-Platteville campus bookstore has
just the right items to meet these needs and
more. With their convenient points of contact,
it is easy for distance learning students to
ask questions or place orders with the campus
bookstore and have the merchandise delivered
to their home. The university bookstore
contact information is:
Phone:608-342-1486
Fax:608-342-1766
Website: http://www.platteville.bkstr.com
E-mail: uwp_bkstr@fheg.follett.com
So...take some
time to browse the campus bookstore web site
and view the many items that are available.
Purchase some UW-Platteville memorabilia to
reward yourself for completing a class (or
registering for your first class). Find
something that you can display with pride for
years to come, as you graduate from one of the
programs offered at a distance. These items
also make great gifts, especially for the
upcoming holiday season!
MARK YOUR
CALENDARS!
On the weekend
of May 11, 2002, the Distance Learning Center
will be sponsoring its first annual
celebration for distance learning
students. This event is being
established to honor the students who will be
graduating from a distance program during the
year. We will also use it as a time to
invite distance learning alumni back to
campus, along with encouraging attendance of
current and prospective students to meet those
of you who have successfully completed your
programs. More information about the
event, including location, times, and
activities will be sent to you in March.
However, mark your calendars now to make your
trip to the UW-Platteville campus and
celebrate your accomplishments!
TECHNICAL
SUPPORT
If you are a
student in an online class and are
experiencing technical problems with your
class, please be sure to contact Technical
Support at UW Learning Innovations to describe
your problem. Many students have been
contacting their instructors to ask for help
in this area. Faculty do not have the
expertise or the authorizations to check on
what might be causing you problems. Faculty
can pass the information along to Learning
Innovations, but they are unable to answer
specific questions about a student's computer
and connection, so it is important that each
student contact technical support
individually. If you feel it is
important to let your instructor know
that you are having technical problems, that's
fine, but be sure to contact technical support
at the same time. In each issue of the
PLEXUS, we publish the contact
information for UW LI Technical
Support. Be sure to refer to that page
when you experience problems and need to
contact support.
