  ONLINE ADVISING
We now have the new advising section up and running on the UW-Platteville Distance Learning web site.  The advising section provides information on university policies and procedures, long-term course schedules for your individual major, links to resources for studying, financial aid information, and other useful information.

One area in the advising section that you may find very useful is the Online Help area.  We have provided links to software tutorials and online virus scanners.  There is also a form for you to complete and request information for items not covered in the advising web site.

Keep in mind that the advising web site is not meant to replace your advisor.  It should be used as a reference tool.  Your advisor is still the best resource for advice and information on your specific academic program.

NEW WEB SITE INDEX
We have recently added a new web site index to help you find what you are looking for on the UW-Platteville Distance Learning web site.  To access the index, go to the Distance Learning home page.  You will see a link either on the bottom of the page or on the bottom of the left column of the page titled "Web Site Index."

The index is designed to open in a separate window to allow you to browse the pages in the web site. To browse the web site pages, select the link you wish to view.  All of the links in the index will open the pages in a new window.

If you experience any problems with the web site index, contact the Distance Learning Center at disted@uwplatt.edu.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
It has come to our attention that many of you choose to bookmark a specific page on the Distance Learning web site --in particular, the program-specific pages.  As a general rule, you should periodically check the Announcements area on the Distance Learning home page for any new developments.

We recommend that you check the Announcements section about once a month to ensure that you are up to date on any changes in class schedules or policies.

EMAIL UPDATES
Because email is a primary form of communication with the university, it is very important that you contact the Distance Learning Center if your email address changes. If you forget to do this, you might miss vital information about your classes and other important announcements that are sent out by email.

To update your email address, simply go to the Distance Learning home page and select "Information Request."  On the form, fill in your contact information and provide your old and new email address. Verify your email address is spelled correctly, and click on the Submit button.  We will update your email address in our database.
