Two
new certificate programs have been developed at UW-Platteville to allow
working adults to keep current with changes in the job market without having
to return to traditional school settings. Both certificates are geared
toward professionals who wish to remain competitive or who wish to advance
in their fields.
UNDERGRADUATE
CERTIFICATE IN FOOD MARKETING
The
undergraduate certificate in Food Marketing is designed for professionals
who wish to increase their business knowledge or better understand industry
issues and trends. The majority of the courses for the Food Marketing certificate
are currently available at a distance. Those that are not may be taken
at local institutions and transferred to UW-Platteville.
Successful
completion of the Food Marketing certificate requires 12 to 18 credits,
depending on prior experience and education. All courses taken for the
certificate in Food Marketing count toward the undergraduate degree in
Business Administration with a Food Marketing emphasis.

Choose
either BSAD 3530 Organizational Behavior or BSAD 3540 Quality Management.
(Before taking either course, you may need to enroll in BSAD 2330 Leadership
and Management. BSAD 2330 may be waived if you have relevant management
experience and/or training.)
Choose
either BSAD 3120 Retailing or BSAD 3630 Advertising or BSAD 3820 Professional
Selling. (Before taking one of these courses, you may need to enroll in
BSAD 2630 Introduction to Marketing. BSAD 2630 may be waived if you have
relevant marketing experience and/or training.)

GRADUATE
CERTIFICATE IN ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT
The
graduate certificate in Engineering Management was developed in response
to the increasing demand for engineers who can assume management duties.
The courses focus on the additional skills required for supervisory
positions, including the ability to negotiate, resolve conflicts, conduct
process or system analysis, and schedule projects.
The
Engineering Management certificate is available completely online and is
designed for those who wish to earn a foundation in basic management skills,
but are not currently pursuing a master's degree. Credits earned
for the certificate can later be applied toward the Master of Engineering
degree or the Master of Science in Project Management.
The
Engineering Management certificate is comprised of three courses, each
worth three credits.
