CERTIFICATES IN ENGINEERING
Students may choose to earn a twelve-credit graduate online engineering certificate from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. The courses required for each of the following engineering certificates must be earned from UWP in order to be eligible to receive the certificate; transfer courses may not be applied to a certificate program. Each course listed below is equivalent to three credits.
Note: Credits earned for any of the following certificates may also be applied toward UWP's online Master of Science in Engineering.
Certificate in Engineering Management
- Required:
- PM 7010 - Project Management Techniques I
- PM 7020 - Project Management Techniques II
- Choose two additional engineering courses from those listed in "Section B: Technical Emphasis Courses" at www.uwplatt.edu/disted/degrees/eng/eng_requirement.html#b
Note: With prior approval from the program coordinator, credits earned for the Certificate in Engineering Management may also be applied toward UWP's online Master of Science in Project Management.
Certificate in Structural Engineering
- Required:
- ENGRG 6230 - Structural Steel Design w/ LRFD (formerly CEE 6230)
- ENGRG 7220 - Dynamics of Structures (formerly CEE 7100)
- ENGRG 7240 - LRFD of Bridge Superstructures (course to be developed)
- ENGRG 7250 - Soil-Structures Interaction (course to be developed)
Certificate in Geotechnical Engineering
- Required:
- ENGRG 7260 - Advanced Shallow Foundation Design w/ LRFD Applications
- ENGRG 7270 - Advanced Deep Foundation Design w/ LRFD Applications
- ENGRG 7280 - Geosynthetics Engineering (formerly CEE 7280)
- ENGRG 7290 - Earth Retaining Structures: Design, Analysis, and LRFD (formerly CEE 7290)
Certificate in Structural/Geotechnical Engineering
- Required:
- Complete 12 credits consisting of two courses from those listed in the Certificate in Structural Engineering and two courses from those listed in the Certificate in Geotechnical Engineering.
If you enrolled in UW-Platteville online courses before January 1, 2006, the certificate requirements can be viewed at http://www.uwplatt.edu/disted/degrees/eng/eng_certificate_01.html.
Note: You must take all of the required courses in a specific certificate program from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville to be eligible to receive that certificate. Transfer courses may not be applied to the certificate programs.
