Transfer Credits
You will obtain your degree by taking courses at a distance. You may also apply college credit from the following:
University and College Transfer Credits
Vocational-Technical College Transfer Credits
Credit for Military Experience
Credit for Training Programs
Credit for Specific Subject Examinations
Credit by Test Out
Take CLEP examinations
UNIVERSITY AND COLLEGE TRANSFER CREDITS
Generally, college credits from two-year or four-year regionally accredited colleges and universities will transfer, provided grades of "C" or better were earned and the credits are in areas curr ently taught at UW-Platteville. The two-year degree from the UW Colleges satisfies all UW-Platteville general education requirements, as does a four-year bachelor's degree from any University of Wisconsin System university. Other four-year bachelor degrees from regionally accredited colleges and universities will be considered by evaluation.
No more than a total of 72 credits may transfer from two-year colleges.
VOCATIONAL-TECHNICAL COLLEGE TRANSFER CREDITS
In general, University of Wisconsin System policy does not allow the transfer of noncollege track technical college course work, but if you have completed course work from Wisconsin technical colleges in business administration and business administration-related areas and general education, some course work may transfer if previously approved by the UW System; however, the course must match a similar course at UW-Platteville. No technical credits taken after enrollment at UW-Platteville may transfer.
If you have taken business administration and business administration-related technical college courses that do not transfer, you may receive credits by departmental test-out or by combining te chnical college course work with other prior work and life experience through the portfolio development process.
CREDIT FOR MILITARY EXPERIENCE
For one year of military service in the active U.S. armed forces as documented by a DD214 form (military separation papers), you may receive two credits in physical education and two credits in military science. For two years of service, which includes an overseas assignment of 60 days or more, you may receive an additional two credits in international education. Please provide the UW-Platteville Distance Learning Center with a copy of your DD214.
Most formal courses offered by the regular Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, and Department of Defense starting with 1972 have been evaluate d by the American Council on Education and may be transcriptable as recommended by the Council. Some Air Force formal courses have also been evaluated by the Council, but courses taken while serving as an enlisted person in the Air Force have been evaluated by the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) and should appear on a transcript from CCAF. Request your transcript from CCAH/RRRA, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, 36112.
If you have attended one or more military schools, you will want to request documentation. Veterans of the regular U.S. military must write to General Service Administration, National Personnel Records Center (Military Personnel Records), 9700 Page Boulevard, St. Louis, MO 63132. Request that a 2-1 form be completed for you (you must provide your military identification number). Instruct the General Service Administration to send the 2-1 form directly to the UW-Platteville Dis tance Learning Center. If you are in the active regular U.S. military, you should contact your base personnel officer for official documentation of your educational record. Form DD295 is required.
Normally, because military courses are so specific, such credits transfer as electives.

CREDIT FOR TRAINING PROGRAMS
If the American Council on Education (ACE) has evaluated the corporate or professional training program in which you participated, you may receive some transfer credit. Only the ACE recommendations that are related directly to the business administration major will be considered for transfer. Nor mally, because training programs are so specific to the industry, such credits transfer as business electives.
Please have the training program send an official document indicating your participation in the program and the courses completed to the UW-Platteville Distance Learning Center.
CREDIT FOR SPECIFIC SUBJECT EXAMINATIONS
CLEP (College Level Examination Program), DANTES (Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support), USAFI (United States Armed Forces Institute) subject examinations, and College Board Advanced Placement Examinations may be acceptable. The maximum total credits applicable to the degree earned by external or internal examinations may not exceed 30 credits. If you have previously taken any of these examinations, you must provide official evidence of each examination taken.
CREDIT BY TEST OUT
If you believe that you have proficiency in a specific course, you may be able to test out of it. Test-out costs and procedures are determined by the individual departments. A UW-Platteville Distance Learning Center staff member will help you contact the appropriate academic department.
No student may take a credit examination in a course that is a prerequisite, stated or implied, for an advanced course in the same subject for which credits have already been earned.
Only students who are officially admitted at UW-Platteville may participate in departmental test-out examinations.
