| Course Description: | In this course, we consider ways in which ethical theories inform concrete deliberations in business. Taking prevailing normative orientations as our paradigms, we treat (1) the justification of moral principles, (2) their specification, and (3) their application in real-life contexts. Grading Information
The grades in this course will be determined using the percentages given below.
Online discussions 30% (total)Individual paper 20%Group project 30%Final exam 20%
You will be participating in discussions with your classmates and with me each week throughout the course. I will assign a letter grade at the end of each week's discussions to indicate the quality of your contributions to these discussions, and these weekly grades will be combined to determine this portion of your course grade. Letter grades will also be assigned for the paper, the group project, and the final exam. The grades for these various components of the course will be used as indicated above to determine your course grade. Note that, unlike what you may be used to from other courses, there are no points assigned to any of the course components - only the letter grades will be used. Plus and minus grades will be used for all discussions and assignments and for final grades. The only exception to this is that there’s no such thing as an “A+.”
