Notes to students

If you have registered for a course you will be receiving an email containing your username and password from Learning Innovations about one week prior to the start of class. If you have registered early you will be given access to your courses one week prior to the start of the semester.

All matriculated students have access to online advising resources. Once you have been accepted into a program and have an assigned advisor you can log into your advising site using the login area on the left of the screen.

Your username and password to access the advising resources were sent via email. This email also contains instructions to fully open your access to Platteville campus online services.

Please note that you will continue to use a separate password to access your online courses.

New Tools Available to Online Students

The Distance Learning Center and the UWP Karrmann Library have made available new tools to online students. Links to these services have appeared on the navigation bar of your online courses. The first is RefWorks, the online research management and bibliography creator service. This tool assist in researching and citing documents you use in your papers. Check the Library's RefWorks page, http://www.uwplatt.edu/library/refworks.html, for instructions on how to use RefWorks for your research assignments; check the DLC library resource page, http://www.uwplatt.edu/disted/started.html?libAcc for a link to an archived online presentation introducing RefWorks.

The second tool is Turnitin. The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Distance Learning Center has subscribed to Turnitin, an online plagiarism detection and avoidance service. This tool can be use by students to assist in properly citing sources and avoiding plagiarism and by instructors to assist in identifying plagiarism.

  • Place your cursor over the orange RSS logo located above the feed
  • Copy the url to your clipboard
  • Open your feed reader and click on new subscription
  • Paste the url from your clipboard into the form provided

Password Self-Service

Documentation
Students now have the ability to change or retrieve their password from anywhere they have access to an internet connection. The Password Self-Service tool prompts users to enter answers for challenge questions, and then gives them the ability to retrieve or set their own password.
