How to Drop a Distance Learning Course

Prior to the registration deadline, you can drop a course directly in PASS.

  1. Log into your Student Center in PASS.
  2. Click Enroll in the Academics section.
  3. Click Drop at the top of the page, or if you want to drop one class and add another, select Swap.
  4. Select the course you want to drop and click Drop Selected Classes.
  5. Confirm the information and click Finish Dropping.
  6. Read the View Results page to confirm that the class was successfully dropped.

After the registration deadline, you will not have access to drop a course in PASS and must complete the following steps.

  1. Review the Drop/Refund Policies and Deadlines you agreed to when registering.
       Drop/Refund Policies and Deadlines - Fall 2016
       Drop/Refund Policies and Deadlines - Spring 2017
       Drop/Refund Policies and Deadlines - Summer 2017

  2. Complete a Course Drop form. Please note that you must speak with your advisor about your intentions to drop a course.

  3. Send the form to the Distance Learning Center. (Accepted via mail or scan/email at disted@uwplatt.edu.) NOTE: The effective date for the drop will be the date the form is received.

  4. Watch for a confirmation email (online courses) or letter (print-based courses) confirming your drop was processed. If you do not receive this confirmation, contact the Distance Learning Center.
Be sure to contact your advisor to discuss the impact of your drop. Dropping a course and the timing of when you drop the course can have an impact on:

• Your Academic Progress as a degree-seeking student.

Financial Aid - Dropping a course may cause you to have to repay some of the financial aid you received and may impact your eligibility to receive aid for future semesters. Contact the UW-Platteville Financial Aid office at 800.616.0412 to discuss the impact of your financial aid.

Veterans Benefits - Dropping a course may cause you to have to repay some of the veterans benefits you received and may impact your eligibility to receive benefits for future semesters. Contact the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to discuss the impact on your veterans benefits. You can also contact the UW-Platteville School Certifying Official at 608.342.7351 with questions.
